Privacy Policy
1. Information We Collect
We automatically create a unique account identifier when you first open the app. You may choose to provide a display name, bio, city, profile photo, email, and password. We also store hobbies, posts, photos, resources, comments, likes, and messages you submit, along with any reports or feedback you send us. We do not collect precise location data, and we do not currently show personalized/targeted advertising. We do not store your date of birth.
2. How We Use Information
We use your information to operate the Service, help you connect with other users, show you personalized hobby recommendations based on the categories you already follow, review reports, respond to feedback, and maintain security. We do not sell your personal information.
3. How Information Is Shared With Other Users
Your display name and photo are visible to others. Your bio and city are visible unless you enable Private Profile. Hobbies, posts, and resources you contribute are visible to anyone using the Service. Messages are visible only to participants in that conversation. Reports are visible only to Hobbymaxing administrators.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We use Supabase to store account data, messages, and images on our behalf, Expo/Google push notification infrastructure, and Google AdMob to display advertising within the Service.
4A. Advertising
Ads are currently non-personalized — not selected based on your activity within Hobbymaxing. AdMob may process limited technical device/app information needed to serve and measure ads, under Google's own privacy policy. If we switch to personalized advertising in the future, we will update this Policy first and provide an opt-out where required by law.
5. Data Retention
We retain your information while your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal profile information is deleted; hobbies, resources, and posts you contributed remain but are no longer attributed to you; messages remain visible to other participants in your conversations. We may retain limited information as required by law, including reporting obligations to NCMEC.
6. Your Choices and Rights
You can view and edit your profile information, enable Private Profile to hide your bio and city, delete your account, and block other users, all directly within the app.
7. Children's Privacy
Hobbymaxing is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and will delete any such account if discovered.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, though no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service changes, including if we switch to personalized advertising. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes.
